Investor Benefits

The variety of GSE-issued debt securities and programs offer investors a unique combination of high credit quality, liquidity, pricing transparency and cash flows that can be customized to closely match an investor’s objective to:

  • implement a current interest rate or currency view;
  • hedge a specific risk;
  • enhance portfolio liquidity:
  • balance portfolio performance characteristics; or
  • minimize transaction costs.

The wide range of debt securities can be viewed as a way of enabling investors to achieve the benefits available from interest rate (and other) swap and option arrangements without incurring the operational and transactional expenses required to establish and manage swap agreements and the related counterparty credit risk.
